Tim Orsulak
Tim Orsulak received Employee of the Month for his excellent workmanship and quality performance on board the USS Iwo Jima during the month of December. Mr. Orsulak is an extremely productive individual. He is currently sharing his knowledge and talent with our newly recruited younger generation.

Gary ("Spiderman") Effler
Gary has done a fantastic job coordinating
the level 1 material control turnover of valves, pipe, and fittings from BAE for the USS Iwo Jima. This research allowed NNSY to hydro test the number 1 boiler on time. Gary is always on time for work and has an excellent attendance record. His past contributions, achievements, and performances are to numerous to list in this write up. His devotion and dedication to MHI and doing all he can in making the jobs successful are what this award is all about.

Nathan Forbes
Over the past years Nathan Forbes has become the pipe shop king on just about all MSC jobs. These jobs are intense with short availabilities. Nathan has always come through making all deadlines even with substantial growth work added. Nathan Forbes has a positive can do attitude, works extremely well with others, and definitely has the skills and knowledge to perform his job in any given situation. He will work long hours, holidays or weekends, whatever it takes to get the job done without any complaints.

Antonio Barksdale
Antonio is a hard working person and takes his job seriously. He is a very dependable, hard worker, punctual and reliable when it comes to his job. Other employee’s have recognized Mr. Barksdale for a “Job Well-Done” Recently, he was given a certificate from the USS Nashville (LPD-13) for the employee of the week over at Earl Industries. The captain of the USS Nashville presented him with a captain’s metal and the employees at Earl Industries presented him with a gift of appreciation. This is an honor to Mr. Barksdale incentive for continuing to growth and do his best in his work performance.

Karen Debski
This nomination is long over due. Karen is an extra ordinary employee, who serves our customers and vendors with professionalism, politeness and a great attitude. Karen is efficient, dependable and a caring employee that wears many “HATS.” MHI is very fortunate to have her as part of the MHI Family. She is one of the behind the scenes workers, that helps to make MHI function properly. Karen we want to say,

Selden Harris
I nominate Selden Harris as Employee of The Month for June 2007. Mr. Harris has been with the MHI Pipe Shop since June 2005. He started as a Pipefitter Helper and had his mind set on being a seasoned Pipefitter. In the two years Selden has been with the Pipe Shop, he has gone from an inexperienced Helper to a knowledgeable 3rd class Mechanic. He is a very quick learner and will work any hours need. Seldon has accomplished a lot in a short period of time and definitely deserves to be recognized for Employee of the Month for his willingness and hard work he puts forth each day.

Allen Brantley
Allen Brantley's performance as the Paint Shop 1st Class Lead on USS IWO JIMA (LHD) LHD 7) from November 2006 to June 2007 was outstanding. Allen utilized close coordination with Lead Men from other trades with the ability to work several items concurrently to ensure that all painting was completed or ahead of schedule. In addition to this, Allen’s thoughtful training and leadership of Paint Shop personnel will benefit MHI for years to come, due to his capability of providing the company with highly capable and motivated employees. Mr. Brantley’s superb work on USS IWO JIMA is most worthy of the honor and recognition due to his possessing the discipline, maintaining great qualifications and knowing how to manage the job; therefore, I support and nominate Allen Brantley as the MHI Employee of the Month.

Paul Rader
Paul Rader has been with MHI for 2 ½ years working as the Outside Machine Shop Planner. His duties include ordering and receiving machine shop materials as well as keeping up with the inventory for all parts. In addition, Paul is responsible for keeping track of all machine shop time cards which can be a full time job by itself at times. Paul ensures that all references, technical manuals and drawings are available for the leadmen which can be a very demanding task. During his time with MHI, Paul has been responsible for as many as eight to ten ships at one time. Paul’s professionalism coupled with his can-do attitude has made such transitions effortless and possible. These qualities along with many others make Mr. Rader most deserving of this award.

Rick Shelton
Rick Shelton was assigned to seven different ships during the month of September and accomplished each task while staying on schedule. Rick’s can do attitude, professionalism and leadership skills have earned him the respect of his peers and seniors alike. Rick is constantly asked to work late or weekends and on several occasions has modified his own plans to ensure that the job is completed on schedule. Mr. Shelton is most highly recommended for this award.

Mike Butler
Mike Butler worked on the MV Bow Santos from 6-14-07 until 9-08-07, both at MHI Midtown Facility as well as at Lamberts Point Docks. During this time, he performed the tasks of gas freeing the cargo tanks, ballast tanks, cargo piping, and machinery spaces. He also pumped off CHT and bilge water while pumping fresh water as required and authorized, and kept track of the amount pumped. Mike performed all of these jobs in an exceptional manner. Mike was well liked and respected by the ship's crew and port engineer and was always available when things came up that needed his immediate attention. I was very impressed with his performance on the MV Bow Santos. In addition to accomplishing his work, Mike was a great help to me and I considered him to be my assistant. With all this said, Mike Butler has been chosen for employee of the month.

Tim Menechella
Tim Menechella has been with the company for 14 years and very deserving of this award. Tim has been the Machine Shop’s leadman for several ships including the USS Ashland and USS Oak Hill. Tim’s main responsibility while working aboard these ships was overhauling the main engines and generators. Tim has been asked to work 12 hour days as well as night shifts without much notice and almost never complains. Tim makes sure that all jobs are complete and on time. He is very well respected by his co-workers and supervisors. When Tim is not working down river, he helps with the condition reports, timecards, evaluations, and other shop work. Tim’s dedication, quality of work, and job knowledge makes him a viable candidate for the Employee of the Month.
