In addition to these Government contracts, MHI held the Navy’s Indefinite Delivery Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) contract for 10 years providing emergent repairs to ships outside of their normal maintenance periods.  This work in addition to our support contract with General Dynamics Bath Iron Works Division to execute the warranty repairs to all the DDG 51 Class destroyers in Norfolk has provided the foundation for MHI’s expertise at performing repairs on demand for all types of vessels.

In February 2005 MHI was awarded a 5 year Multi Ship Multi Option Contract (MSMO) to perform all types of Maintenance and Modernization work on 12 DDG 51 Class ships homeported in Norfolk, Virginia and Mayport, Florida.  This contract has helped to stabilize our work force and improved our ability to pursue and execute commercial ship repair.  In 2006 we have executed in excess of 200,000 hours of repairs to transient vessels and other commercial ships.
